'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range shot from 25 yards, and the defender promptly hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with fans congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory sealed an incredible turnaround given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result earned a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they are adept at manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At Orient he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford City, before he departed his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the arena covering was closed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I got to the stage where I realized I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. Franco is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
